College hosts sixth annual Hunger Fast
Thanksgiving ushers in a flurry of excitement about, and increased attention to, food a trademark of American holiday spirit. Turkey and gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce: these items often comprise the traditional annual feast and have come to define Thanksgiving in our culture. However, what is sometimes lost amid fantasies of over-indulgence and tryptophan comas is the holiday’s founding principle, a reminder to give thanks for one’s food and the many other blessings taken for granted in everyday life.
