“The Sublet,” a new comedy from Roger Simon, the owner of Poughkeepsie’s Simon Studio, will be screened for one day locally on Sunday, July 13 at 1 p.m. at Upstate Films in Rhinebeck.
Simon plays a leading role in the film, which was shot in New York City and Poughkeepsie last spring. Tiffany Lee and Ross Pivec lead the rest of the cast, while Georgiana Nestor directed the film, which has already won four Best Feature awards and an Audience Choice award at international film festivals in Los Angeles, Florida, North Carolino and New Jersey.
Following the screening, Simon and Nestor will hold a question-and-answer session with the audience.
Simon plays Walter, a lonely 71-year-old widower living on New York City’s Upper West Side. He decides to meet new people by advertising for a tenant, and soon his monotonous life is jettisoned as he shows his place to prospective subletees.
