Watson case postponed until April 29

The judge in the case of former City of Poughkeepsie School Superintendent Robert Watson adjourned a scheduled court appearance on April 15 to accommodate a scheduling conflict with the defense attorney.

The sides were slated to appear in court to file any pre-trial motions, but defense attorney Michael Sussman requested and received a two-week adjournment from Dutchess County Court Judge Thomas J. Dolan until April 29. Senior Assistant District Attorney Edward Whitesell raised no objection to the delay.

Watson is facing a seven-count indictment which charges him with, among other things, grand larceny and misappropriating more than $1 million in school district funds. Watson, who has pleaded not guilty, is free on $50,000 bond.
