To the Editor:
Thank you for the many phone calls and correspondence from those who are disappointed I lost. I knew two years ago, after a close victory, that I may only have a one term opportunity to represent the 2nd Ward and that I would have to make the most of my time. I have no regrets about my service or the professional and positive campaign my team ran.
Accomplishments are never the result of one person and many people contributed to both the campaign and my success as your councilman. Many initiatives were accomplished through effective leadership and strong working relationships within City Hall and in the community: meeting the equipment needs of our successful Pop Warner Football program through the utilization of unused distressed city funds; coming to the rescue of the residential neighborhoods asking for parking relief from outside agencies encroaching on their streets; organizing tenant meetings at our housing projects; enforcing the early closure of the corner store hindering unwanted foot traffic and loitering on Montgomery and to keep the smart development at our waterfront in the 2nd Ward moving forward.
Most recently, I’m very proud that an agreement has been negotiated to replace and modernize the fire alarm system at Eastman Tower. Profound improvement takes time and in one term we’ve helped move a mountain. With the help of my office, HUD, City Hall, Sheldrake Corporation and Assemblyman Kirwan, Eastman Tower is a safer place to live. Finally, thank you to all of my friends and constituents.
